DISCIPLESHIP

DISCIPLESHIP

GCF Discipleship groups are designed to train Christians in the various skills of Christian living and the specific theology and values of GCF. Each gender-specific group consists of 3-6 people, and meets three times a month from early September through May. Although the curriculum takes three years to complete, we only ask participants to commit to one year at a time.

During the 2023-24 school year, we will cover the “Red Year.”

The books for the Red Year are listed below and will be available for purchase this fall. Small changes may be made to the reading list as we get closer to when groups start.

  • Living the Cross Centered Life by CJ Mahaney

  • Christian Beliefs by Grudem & Grudem

  • Jesus Continued by J.D. Greear

We offer small groups as well as discipleship groups. Above are some of the differences and similarities.

It serves the staff and discipleship group leaders immensely if participants sign up. The earlier you register the better. After you sign up, a leader will contact you in August.

SOUL CARE DISCIPLESHIP

Soul Care is intentional and intensive discipleship and deep, authentic fellowship. It is something we all should do at the level we are equipped. For example, some are equipped to offer formal Biblical counseling; others are equipped as small group leaders; still, others are equipped as members of the body of Christ. The primary goal of this discipleship training is to increase each member’s understanding of and comfort with practicing soul care on themselves and others.

The books for the Soul Care Discipleship are listed below and will be available for purchase in the bookstore this Fall. Small changes to the reading list may be made as we get closer to when groups start.

  • Gospel Fluency by Jeff Vanderstelt

  • God’s Grace in Your Suffering by David Powlison

  • Making All Things New: Restoring Joy to the Sexually Broken by David Powlison

  • Extravagant Grace: God’s Glory Displayed in Our Weakness by Barbara Duguid
